ABOUT

Victoria Mews Angling Club is a newly formed club always looking to take on new members, we have recently acquired a stretch of canal on the Walsall Canal between Midland road and Willenhall road. The stretch of canal can accomodate 30 plus anglers fishing at any one time. The stretch has proven of late to produce some good weights in our weekly competitons and many species of fish which include Roach, Rudd, Perch, Bream, Carp, Tench, Pike, Eels, Gudgeon, Pike and Chub. Some specimen fish have been caught including Tench to 8lb, Bream to 7lb, pike to 22lb and Carp to 12lb, nets of 20lb plus are regular and weights in excess of 50lb in a 5 hour session have been recorded. The stretch is located in a peaceful and tranquil part of the Walsall Canal and has many features to fish to such as overhanging willow and birch trees and lilly pads to the near and far bank. The near and far shelf has a depth of 2ft with a depth of 5ft down the middle. Barges pass occasionally but are not a nuisance. Parking is available at various locations and there are a few places where access is possible direct to the pegs. There is also a cafe approximately 200 meters away on The Green darlaston which is located athe bottom of Midland road next to the roundabout the cafe opens at 08.00 everyday. We are a fully insured angling club.

As you can see the stretch of canal has many features to fish to, the larger tench tend to be caught up against the pads on the far side. With the right tactics big weights of bream can be caught on the 11 meter line.
